Payroll Accountant

Summary Accountant performs accounting functions of variable complexity to ensure an accurate accumulation and reporting of financial data.Duties and Responsibilities Perform accounting functions for payroll accounting, tax & compliance reporting, and DOE Reporting. Reviews and analyzes accounting data for compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations and DOE/NNSA orders. Interface and collaborate with the Finance Accounting and FP&A teams, Program Managers and Project Analysts, as needed. Processes employee receivables and related allowances Assists with ServiceNow case management. Reconciles payroll related accounts. Prepares and submits assigned journal entries and account reconciliations and maintain working papers required to record accounting activities. Maintains subsidiary ledgers to support accounting control data and reconciles account balances. Compiles data for periodic payroll and related tax reports for distribution. Develops data to be used in determining cost variances. Analyze variances, prepare explanations, and investigate significant variances and account balances. Analyzes data to identify recurring problems, then investigates and recommends corrective action. Analyzes and interprets accounting data and presents conclusions to management. Assists in the development of detailed procedures and work instructions. Work with internal and external auditors - answering questions and providing documentation in a timely manner.You Must Have Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, and 2 years of relevant experience; or 2 additional years of relevant experience and/or certification Ability to travel up to 5% of the time Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business United States Citizenship Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)We Value Intermediate level of proficiency applying advanced accounting principles, theories, and concepts Contributes to the development of new processes, principles, and concepts Proficiency in ERP/MRP application Strong analytical skills Ability to work with multiple teams of people and inspire those teams to work together to reach a common goalAdditional Information JOB ID: 1007Remote Eligibility: HybridTravel Required: 0-10%Hourly/Salary: SalaryRelocation Available: Yes
