Summary This position is located at the Acoma-Canoncito-Laguna Service Unit (ACLSU), located in Acomita, NM. The position provides a full scope of family practice services for patients, working under the supervision of the Clinical Director. Will serve as the primary care physician for infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients who have both acute and chronic illnesses and conditions covering the entire spectrum of medicine. Duties Performs standard duties, responsibilities and functions including history taking, physical examination, ordering laboratory and x-ray procedures, interpreting clinical data, formulating therapeutic programs, and maintaining adequate records. Performs medical duties in hospital or outpatient clinic covering primary care and general family medicine, where patients may have interacting acute and chronic medical problems such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, arthritis, and cancer. Provides first contact, continuous, comprehensive primary care according to current standards of care, the patient centered medical home model or care, and relevant regulations. Coordinates and/or integrates care across all elements of the healthcare system, including referral to specialty clinics/consults or for admission to the hospital when appropriate. Participates in health care teams comprised of physicians, non-physician providers and ancillary staff, and in meetings to develop new, modify existing, and evaluate medical procedures with the objective of improving the quality of patient care. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): DEGREE: You must have a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent degree from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:BOARD CERTIFICATION: You must be Board Certified in Family Practice and an active registrant of the Board in Family Practice. ACTIVE REGISTRATION: You must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration to practice medicine as a Family Practice Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States. Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Listings of accredited programs are published yearly in the Directory of Residency Training Programs and the Yearbook and Directory of Osteopathic Physicians.An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the American Medical Association (AMA) or Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).A fellowship program involves advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-13: In addition possession of the Basic Requirements and Selective Placement Factor, you must have 3 (three) years of graduate training or experience in providing family practice services for patients of all ages. Such training or experience must be clearly identified by title and dates, and duties performed described in your resume to be creditable.This includes serving as primary care physician for infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with illnesses, diseases, injuries or other conditions.
